Neymar is back, and he made history! The Brazilian superstar made his World Cup debut, coming on as a substitute in the “Seleção” in their 3-0 win over Scotland in the final match of Group C.
The 34-year-old attacking midfielder entered the game in the 76th minute, replacing Matheus Cunha, and was greeted with a standing ovation from Brazilian fans at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Neymar had missed Carlo Ancelotti’s team’s first two matches against Morocco and Haiti due to a calf injury, but he returned at just the right moment, a few days before the start of the knockout stage.
His appearance against Scotland was also marked by a historic achievement, as he became the first Brazilian soccer player to wear the iconic number “10” in four different World Cups, having previously played in the 2014, 2018, and 2022 tournaments.
At the same time, his presence on the field also marked his return to the “Seleção” after nearly three years away, as his last appearance with the Brazilian national team dated back to October 2023.
