It was April 2017 when Heraklis secured its last victory in the Stoiximan Super League.
Nine years later, the team led by Walter Mazzarri—who is currently suspended—took Tripoli by storm, defeating Asteras 2-0 in the third matchday of the league.

Hercules found the back of the net early on, with new signing Edgar Barthenás scoring on his debut, and then managed their lead exceptionally well. The Thessaloniki side defended with discipline, gave the Arcadians space, and drew them into numerous attacks down the flanks, without, however, allowing many clear-cut chances.
In the second half, Asteras stepped up the intensity, applied more pressure, and took even greater risks. Heraklis waited patiently for the right moment and struck on the counterattack in the 70th minute. Nize earned the penalty, and Ivi López sent the ball into the net to make it 2-0.
Thus, Heraklis reached four points, having played exclusively on the road, while Asteras remains without a point after the first three matchdays.
