Pavlos Kontidis had an outstanding race—and one that he can now cross off his list—on the second day of the World Championship in Dunlaoghaire, Ireland.
The Cypriot sailor won today’s (August 26) first race—his fourth overall in the blue fleet— and then finished 16th, which is his worst result so far. As a reminder, on Tuesday (August 25) he won one race, while in the other two he finished 11th and 13th.
Thus, after the completion of the five qualifying heats, Pavlos Kontidis is in 13th place in the overall standings, with 26 penalty points.
The final heats will begin on Thursday (August 27), with the sailor from the Limassol Nautical Club competing in the Gold Fleet. Through Saturday (August 29), a total of six more races will be held, the results of which will determine the final top ten who will compete in the two medal races to be held on Sunday (August 30).
