Mamma mia… Roma turned the Olimpico into a “fortress”!
Just a few days after suffering a shocking upset at the same stadium at the hands of Real Madrid, Gian Piero Gasperini’s team found a way to bounce back, showing consistency in the league!
Although the “Giallorossi” were sluggish in the first half, they managed—thanks to a spectacular goal by Castro and a goal by Luli in the second half—to “seal the deal” Genoa in Matchday 7 of Serie A, continuing the “Roman” rivalry with Lazio and the chase for Inter at the top of the standings.
Roma dominated throughout the match, facing their only real threat in the first half when El Shaarawy hit the crossbar, who was given a hero’s send-off shortly before the final whistle when he was substituted by Daniele De Rossi.
Roma, having played one more game, is now in second place in the standings with 17 points and remains undefeated in the league, while Genoa continues to struggle, sitting in second-to-last place in the standings with just four points.
