Kostas Antetokounmpo said he was happy about his new contract with Aris, which runs through 2029. The international center sees the team’s rapid rise, while speaking highly of his coach, Vassilis Spanoulis.
“I’m very happy to be part of this historic team. I have wonderful memories and experiences from last season, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds,” was his first comment after signing his three-year contract. Here are his comments in full, as published on arisbc.gr.
You played for the team last year; you know the players and the situation. Does that help you avoid needing time to adjust?
““Yes, it definitely helps that I played for ARIS last year and that I know what to expect in terms of basketball at the EuroCup level.”
ARIS has entered the Vasilis Spanoulis era, and you have an excellent working relationship with him on the national team. How do you envision this collaboration at the club level?
«“He’s a tremendous coach, and I have respect and trust in him. I hope that our collaboration will yield the same results as it does on the national team.”
ARIS Betsson is moving up a level. How do you see the coming season—is it a big challenge?
“ARIS is indeed rising rapidly, and we can all see that. I believe the upcoming season will be a challenge—both for us as players and team members, and for all our fans.”
In just half a season, you’ve managed to become a fan favorite at ARIS Betsson. What message do you want to send them?
“Honestly, the love I’ve felt here at ARIS is unbelievable. It made me feel immediately like I was part of the family, and that’s very important to me. I truly love them, and I’m ready to give my best going forward.”
