Dimitris Giannakopoulos offered his own take on the dispute that has erupted between Thomas Walkup and Olympiacos, taking jabs not only at the international guardbut also at the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK) for granting him Greek citizenship.
“To treat a Greek international this way and for no one to step in to protect him is a disgrace. This patriot sweated for the flag, and neither the EOK nor the government is anywhere to be found. Support for Thomas,” wrote the owner of Panathinaikos BC in an Instagram story.

It should be noted that Wokap unilaterally terminated his contract, requesting his release. Olympiacos calls this a baseless move, emphasizes that the player has a contract in effect through the summer of 2027, and calls on him to attend the scheduled medical and ergometric tests. This is not expected to happen, and so we are heading toward a legal resolution of the dispute between the two sides.
