The Julian Alvarez saga has turned into a… soap opera.
Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are at each other’s throats over the Argentine forward, with the the “Roji-Blancos” having accused the Catalans of illegally approaching the player, and the player himself wanting to leave Simeone’s team, even going so far as to accept boos during the recent match against Villarreal.
Despite the turn the whole issue has taken and Atlético’s prolonged refusal, the “Blugrana” do not seem to be giving up. Quite the contrary, in fact, with Joan Laporta publicly emphasizing that the €100 million offer to sign the international forward remains on the table.
The “Roji-Blancos,” however, are not changing their stance, responding publicly to the Barcelona president. “There is a 0% chance that Álvarez will be sold to Barcelona. They have hurt us financially, but also in terms of prestige, with what they’ve done.
There’s an entire campaign surrounding this case, filled with both truths and lies. The only ones who’ve… paid the price for all of this are us,” emphasized the Atlético Madrid camp.
Tensions are mounting in this case, and its outcome remains, even today, a big question mark.
