With two wins over Kairat Almaty, Levski Sofia advanced to the Champions League qualifying playoffs and secured a matchup with AEK, in the final step before entering the group stage.
After a 1-0 win in the first leg against the Kazakhs, won by the same score in the away rematch to advance to the next round of qualifying in impressive fashion and with clean sheets.
Levski will now face AEK, while Kairat Almaty is “relegated” to the Europa League playoffs, where they will face the winner of the PAOK–Anderlecht matchup.
If the “Double-Headed Eagle of the North” turns the tables against the Belgians on the road on Thursday, then it will be the one to face Kairat; otherwise the Greek team will await an opponent in the Conference League.
The first match between AEK and Levski will take place on Tuesday, August 18, in Sofia, with kickoff scheduled for 10:00 p.m. The second leg will be played on Wednesday, August 26, also at 10:00 p.m., with AEK hosting Levski at the Allwyn Arena.
