Espanyol got off to an impressive start to the new season, outplaying Levante and winning 3-0 in both teams’ La Liga opener.
The Catalans came out determined and needed just five minutes to take the lead. Roberto Fernández was the one who opened the scoring, giving his team control of the match early on.
Espanyol continued to create problems for Levante’s defense, missing chances to score a second goal, with Ryan making several key saves. Finally, in the 40th minute, Fernández struck again, scoring his second goal of the match to make it 2-0.
In the second half, Levante attempted to push up their lines and apply more pressure, but failed to pose any real threat. Espanyol maintained control and waited for the opportunity to seal the match once and for all.
That opportunity came in the 80th minute, when the home team launched a quick counterattack and Dolan, with a beautiful left-footed shot from the edge of the box, set the final score at 3-0.
