Marseille got off to a strong start to the new season, with Guiri leading the way as they defeated Strasbourg 4-0 at home in their Ligue 1 opener.
The first half was fairly even, with both teams struggling to find the final pass and inevitably heading into halftime tied at zero. Ultimately, the balance of play shifted early in the second half, with Guiri opening the scoring for Marseille with a close-range effort in the 46th minute.
El Mourabet’s ejection in the 58th minute gave the home team a numerical advantage, and they sealed the victory with a well-taken penalty kick by Guiri in the 67th minute of the match. The icing on the cake came in the 89th minute with a powerful shot by Abdallah, while Hojbjerg sealed the final score in stoppage time.
