Panathinaikos has filed a complaint with EuroLeague against Giorgos Bartzokas.
Through this complaint, they are seeking exemplary punishment for the Olympiacos coach for the incident following the game against Bologna, framing it (as stated in the relevant position of the Panathinaikos basketball club) as part of “the totality of his inappropriate behavior as a repeat, uncontrollable offender in recent years, which constitutes a complete disgrace to the sport and the EuroLeague brand.”
In this specific complaint, Panathinaikos also points out “last year’s away game against Dubai, when he attacked fans in the stands, verbally abused a female fan, his similar behavior at the Final 4 in Abu Dhabi, and numerous other incidents.”
At the same time, according to the “Greens,” it is pointed out that “it is unacceptable for Mr. Bartzokas to continue, unchecked, to constantly discredit the sport while enjoying immunity from the organizing authority, while other figures in the sport are punished severely and justly. Huge investments are being made in basketball, and Mr. Bartzokas constantly disparages it yet goes unpunished—something that must stop!”
