Leoforos is opening its gates once again, not to welcome Panathinaikos and its fans, but for the Northern Suburbs team’s first home game of this season’s championship.
Kifissia, as the nominal home team, hosts AEK (9:00 p.m.), with Leto’s squad taking the field for the first time in the new Stoiximan Super League, since their opening-round match against Panathinaikos was postponed due to the “Greens’” European commitments.
AEK is… on a high after its comfortable victory over Heraklis in the league’s opening round and its lopsided 4-0 win over Levski Sofia, a match in which they celebrated their qualification for the League Phase of this year’s Champions League in front of their home crowd at Allwyn Arena.
Kifissia enters its second consecutive season in the league with Sebastián Leto at the helm and the same competitive philosophy: high-pressure defense, intensity, and an aggressive mindset.
Of course, the fact that the match against Panathinaikos in the first round was postponed creates a veil of uncertainty surrounding what the Argentine coach’s team will bring to the table and what level of readiness , in stark contrast to the situation facing “Enosis.”
Van Aima and Zoliboua may start in the center of Kifissia’s defense, despite having spent only a few days with the team, while Hugo Souza is the most likely choice for the right side of the back line.
For AEK, Marko Nikolić is not expected to make significant changes to the starting 11 that will take the field from the first minute at “Apostolos Nikolaidis” stadium, with Vitalis, Zubkov, and Zini (or Gacinovic) vying for a starting spot.
Possible starting lineups:
Kifissia (Sebastián Leto): Ramires, Hugo Souza, Van Aima, Zoliboua, Abanda, Rukounakis, Yagne, Zerson Souza, Pobo, Antonise, Sagal.
AEK (Marko Nikolić): Strakosa, Rota, Mukundi, Relvas, Gacinović, Kairinen, Marin, Zubkov, Mandalos, Zini, Jović
