Liverpool is finalizing a major transfer surprise, having reached a verbal agreement with Barcelona to sign Ronald Araújo on loan!
The two clubs have shaken hands on the transfer of the Uruguayan center back, with the Blaugrana’s sporting director, Deco, having approved the deal at the club level. The deal will include a non-mandatory buy option for the “Reds.”
Araujo is expected to be Liverpool’s new reinforcement in the center of defense, in a move described as a “bombshell” in the transfer market. The 27-year-old center back has extensive experience at the top level, having made significant contributions while playing for Barcelona and the Uruguayan national team.
The “Reds” have moved to acquire yet another strong defender and have managed to reach an agreement for a player with leadership qualities and a strong presence in one-on-one duels. All that remains now are the formalities to finalize the transfer and for Araújo to don the Liverpool jersey.
The Uruguayan has been with Barcelona since 2018. With the first team, he has made 213 appearances and scored 14 goals across all competitions, while he has also represented his country’s national team 27 times. During his time with the “Blaugrana,” he has won three league titles, three Cups, and three Spanish Super Cups, and has twice been named to the LaLiga Team of the Season.
