Top-of-the-table showdown in Miami! Early Sunday morning (June 28, 2:30 a.m., sport-fm.gr, ERT Sports2), Colombia will face Portugal at Hard Rock Stadium for the third and final matchday of Group 11 in the North American World Cup, with first place and a favorable draw for the knockout stage at stake.
After the first two matches, the “Cafeteros” sit atop the group with a perfect record. The team led by James Rodríguez and Luis Díaz comfortably defeated Uzbekistan 3-1 in their World Cup opener, followed by a difficult, but well-deserved 1-0 victory over the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
On the other hand, the Iberians, after their lackluster performance in the 1-1 draw against the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the tournament opener, thrashed Uzbekistan 5-0 and proved they have the quality and experience to go far in this year’s World Cup.
The star of the Portuguese victory was none other than Cristiano Ronaldo, with the 40-year-old superstar scoring two goals and making history as the only player to have scored in six World Cups!
Possible starting lineups:
Colombia (Néstor Lorenzo): Vargas, Muñoz, Sánchez, Lukumi, Mojica, Lerma, Ríos, Arias, Rodríguez, Díaz, Suárez.
Portugal (Roberto Martínez): Costa, Cancelo, Díaz, Veiga, Mendes, Neves, Br. Fernandes, Vitinha, Neto, Félix, Ronaldo.
