Giannis Antetokounmpo’s sudden decision to change his jersey number—abandoning the No. 34 that had accompanied him throughout his career to take the “7”—had… consequences for Ryan Conwell.

The 22-year-old shooting guard, who was selected 37th overall in the draft by the Heat, had chosen that specific number, but he gladly gave it up to the new leader of the Miami team.
“Giannis gets whatever he wants. I’m just entering the league now. I have a lot of work to do, and I’m trying to get to where he is. So, whatever number Giannis wants, he can have it. And I’ll take whatever number the team gives me,” said Congwell, who averaged 18.8 points per game in his final college season.
