Giorgos Konstantinou, president of the AEK Veterans Association, spoke to “SUPERSPORT 104.0,” discussing the Larnaca team’s performance, the quality of this year’s roster, Rubén Segues, and the level of Cypriot soccer. He also sent his best wishes to Omonia and Paphos for their European campaigns, expressing his optimism for an exciting league season.
Here’s what he said in detail
On the European matches: “Let’s wish Omonia and Paphos the best of luck. We need those points for the sake of Cypriot soccer.”
On the level of Cypriot soccer: “Our level has risen tremendously. We’re seeing David Luiz coming to play soccer in Cyprus. A lot of good work has been done; great players and coaches are coming here.”
On AEK: “I’m pleased so far with the team’s performance. This is one of those seasons where there’s a lot of quality in the roster, especially among the Cypriot players. There’s Pileas, Paraskevas, Hambos, Naoum, and Adonis. There’s still plenty of room for improvement. The coach hasn’t settled on the formation and starting lineup he wants to use.”
On Seyes: “He’s a very good coach. To have coached in England for so many years isn’t easy. I think anyone other than a Spanish coach would be out of their element at AEK.”
On the league: “I think we’re in for a very exciting season.”
