Omonia is close to making a major transfer move, as according to reports from Romania, “digisport.ro” and “fanatik.ro,” Florin Tanase is expected to continue his career with the “Greens.”
The 30-year-old attacking midfielder appears to be leaving Steaua Bucharest as a free agent, having reached an agreement with the team’s owner, Gigi Becali, that allowed him to leave at no cost should an attractive offer arise.
This development comes after tension arose within the team, with Tanase walking out of practice following a disagreement with Lucian Filip and being left out of the squad for the match against UTA Arad.
Tanase is one of the most prolific players in the Romanian team’s recent history, having recorded 106 goals and 56 assists in 329 appearances across all competitions.
A product of Gheorghe Hagi’s academy, he first played for FCSB from 2016 to 2022, before moving to Al-Jazira for €3 million. He returned to the Romanian club in 2024 as a free agent and is now on the verge of a new chapter in his career, this time wearing the Omonia jersey.
