Olympiacos is close to signing Joachim Mele, according to Danish reports, with the player having reached an agreement with the “Red-and-Whites” and the deal now hinging on Wolfsburg.
As the report states, the 29-year-old Danish international is one of the top priorities for the Piraeus club, which has already submitted an offer to the German team for his acquisition.
Now, everything is in the hands of Wolfsburg, which must decide whether to accept Olympiacos’s offer and allow Male to leave.
The Germans wish to keep the experienced fullback on their roster, as he is considered key to their efforts to return immediately to the Bundesliga following the team’s relegation to the second division.
However, there is one key factor that could play a role in how things unfold. Mele’s contract with Wolfsburg expires in the summer of 2027, which means the German club faces a difficult decision.
Mele has been playing for Wolfsburg since 2023, having previously played for Atalanta, and he has significant experience at the highest level as well as with the Danish national team. He can play with equal ease on both the right and left sides of the defense, and last season he made 16 appearances in the Bundesliga, recording 1 goal and 2 assists.
