The Cyprus Football Federation, as soon as it became aware of the announcement regarding the organization of an FC Barcelona Academy training camp in the occupied territories, immediately took the necessary steps, in consultation with UEFA.
Specifically, CFF President Haris Loizidis wrote to the President of the Spanish Football Federation, requesting his intervention to ensure that the camp does not take place in the occupied territories, as such an event contravenes the current legal and regulatory framework.
As stated in the letter, FC Barcelona is asked to reconsider the event and either move the camp to a suitable and legally compliant location in the free areas of the Republic of Cyprus or not hold it in Cyprus at all.
The letter was sent yesterday morning and forwarded to UEFA and FC Barcelona.
The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) is closely monitoring the situation and will take further action if necessary.
