Olympiacos coach Giorgos Kostis, following the 1-1 draw at “Taktakala” against Krasva ENY, as part of Matchday 7 of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan.
Speaking at the press conference, the 54-year-old explained that his team had only five days to rest and didn’t have time to… recharge their batteries.
On the other hand, Fernández Romo said he was satisfied with the point, as his team is showing improvement with each game. He mentioned the missed penalty, which could have set the stage for a three-point win, while he praised Christodoulou, who made crucial saves in the second half.
Here’s what was said in detail:
Giorgos Kostis (Olympiacos): “We prepared for a tough game against a fast team. We didn’t recover physically or mentally after the match against Omonia, and that was especially evident in the first half. In the second half, we tried harder to win, but we didn’t succeed. We’re not satisfied with the draw, because I know what we’re capable of as a team.
“We only had five days to rest, and that played a role, though it’s no excuse. It’s due to bad luck and the little things that we didn’t get the win. We didn’t play well today, but when you can’t win, even a point is good.”
Fernández Romo (Krasava ENY): “I’m satisfied; I see a change in my team’s momentum. Regardless of the result, we have to keep working and improving game by game. Today our performance was inconsistent—we started well but missed the penalty, and if we’d scored, the match could have unfolded differently. We also conceded a goal, but even so, we fought back and managed to tie the game. After that, we struggled to hold on to the result, and we managed to do so thanks in part to Christodoulou’s performance.”
