Atlético Madrid has no intention of selling Julián Álvarez; in a statement, the club made it clear that for the Argentine forward to say “yes” and allow the Argentine forward to leave, any team wishing to add him to its roster would have to pay the astronomical buyout clause of 500 million euros.
Barcelona, which is desperate to sign Álvarez, isn’t giving up, with the president of the Spanish champions, Joan Laporta, emphasizing that a very good offer has been submitted to the “Rojiblancos” for the 26-year-old forward.
“We’ve made a very good offer for Alvarez. After the World Cup, we’ll announce when it expires. There are many instances where it has been said that a player won’t join a team, but he ended up going anyway. I don’t want to give examples. A major club cannot tolerate unhappy players on its roster. At Barcelona, that will never happen,” Laporta stated emphatically.
