Lazio has reached the top and… is waiting for Inter

She seems capable of competing at the championship level
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Gennaro Gattuso’s Lazio is overcoming both the tough and the easier obstacles and looks capable of contending for the title this year.

They did just that in their match against Parma on Matchday 8 of Serie A, winning 2-1 at the—once again—empty “Olimpico,” since the fans choose to support the team whenever they arrive at the stadium rather than inside it. The conflict between fans and management continues, but it isn’t affecting—at least for now—the Romans’ efforts.

On the field, after hitting the crossbar and having a goal disallowed in the first half, Lazio’s players managed to seal the game within an 8-minute span in the second half.

Kenneth Taylor, off a through ball from Jaccani… —even though it wasn’t intended for him—opened the scoring in the 50th minute, followed by an own goal by Diego Carlos in the 58th minute off a cross from Tavares. In stoppage time, a cross-shot from the left confused Manda; the ball struck both his left post and his body, went wide, but had crossed the goal line, as indicated by the referee’s watch, making it 2-1.

Now the “Laziali” have 22 points, three points ahead of defending champions Inter, and are waiting for Inter’s “response,” in Sunday’s match against Fiorentina at the “Giuseppe Meazza.”
