AEL’s press officer, Nicolas Leventis, made statements to “SPOR FM 95.0.”
The main topic of discussion was the Kafou case, following the Arbitration Committee’s findings regarding the use of VAR.
In fact, he expressed optimism that the Portuguese midfielder’s suspension would be overturned, while emphasizing that all evidence had been submitted to the police as of yesterday.
Here is what he said in detail:
“All the evidence has been turned over to law enforcement; we must not jump to conclusions. Let the conversations from the van be heard—we’re going to untangle this mess and ensure responsibility is assigned where it belongs. This must be verified through an investigation; we are providing information and evidence to the police so they can conduct their inquiry. It is a given that there was outside interference, and this is not the first time. The appeal was filed yesterday; it is part of our strategy. We are following the prescribed procedure, and we are optimistic that the sentence will be overturned. The appeals process is entirely different from the trial process; the evidence in the case should be taken into account. The only response we have received is from the Federation’s director, Mr. Moria. The Cyprus Football Association (KOP) will hold a meeting with all the clubs to put an end to this inconsistency.”
