Leverkusen continues its winning streak and heads to Crete in high spirits ahead of its Europa League match against OFI. The “Aspirins” defeated Freiburg 2-1, celebrating their fifth consecutive Bundesliga victory, despite having fallen behind early.
The visitors caught Leverkusen off guard in the 14th minute, with Dennis Serhadt capitalizing on a pass from Patrick Treu to open the scoring. The home team’s response, however, was immediate. Just five minutes later, Ibrahim Maza found the back of the net following a give-and-go with Patrick Schick, restoring parity to the match.

The game remained evenly matched, with both teams searching for the goal that would give them the lead. The solution for the “Aspirins” came once again from Masa, who scored his second goal of the match in the 76th minute to complete the comeback, earning his team another three points.
Leverkusen thus confirmed its excellent form, extending its winning streak in the league to five consecutive victories. Now, the team is turning its attention to the European match against OFI this coming Thursday at Pankritio Stadium, where it will seek to continue its winning streak.
For its part, OFI knows it will be facing a particularly in-form opponent that finds ways to win even when things don’t start off ideally. The victory over Freiburg is a clear indication of the momentum the Cretans will have to contend with in their European challenge.
In the next Bundesliga matchday, Leverkusen will host Hoffenheim, while Freiburg will face Bayern Munich on the road.
