They fought hard, but they didn't make it!

APOEL suffered an 8-6 loss to Tirana in the opening match of Group 2 of the UEFA Futsal Champions League qualifiers.

The “blue-and-yellows” got off to a very strong start, taking a 3-1 lead thanks to Fagountes, but then conceded eight consecutive goals. Before the final whistle, they managed to narrow the gap with two goals by Tzakidis and one by Souza.

Now, the Nicosia-based team is turning its attention to Thursday’s match (August 27) against Hering of Denmark, while on Saturday (August 29) they will wrap up their campaign against Cardiff of Wales.

As a reminder, only the top team from each group advances to the next round.
