Stefanos Tsitsipas continues his run at the ATP 250 in Gstaad, having defeated Artur Rinderknech 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, and advanced to the semifinals of the tournament.
This achievement is all the more significant, as it marks the Greek champion’s first appearance in an ATP semifinal in 17 months! The last time he reached the semifinals was in February 2025, when he won the title at the Dubai tournament, before a back injury derailed his progress for much of last season.
The match came down to the details. The two players split the first two sets, with Tsitsipas taking the first 6-3 and Rinderknech responding with the same score in the second.
In the decisive set, however, the 27-year-old Greek stepped up his game. He secured the decisive break in the fourth game, took a 4-1 lead, and then managed his advantage flawlessly, without allowing his French opponent to threaten his serve.
The match lasted 1 hour and 41 minutes, with Tsitsipas set to face Alexander Shevchenko (No. 100) in Saturday’s semifinal, vying for a spot in the final, where he will face the winner of the Juan Manuel Cerundolo–Rafael Colignon match.
