Marcus Edwards trained today for the first time with our national team and also spoke to the media, discussing his goals as well as his connection to Cyprus.
Here are his comments in full:
“Being part of the national team is a proud moment for me and my family. I’m very happy to be here. I want us to qualify for a major tournament; I want us to win games and for me to score goals. I live in an area of England where many Cypriots live, and I want to make them proud.
I feel very connected to my Cypriot roots. I come to Cyprus every summer to visit my grandfather and grandmother; my mother was born in Cyprus. As for my teammates, Tsaroullas and I have known each other since we were kids—we went to the same school and the same academy when we were young.”
