Manchester United fined Lisandro Martínez for his comments following the 2-0 loss to Atlético Madrid.
The Argentine defender launched a fierce attack against the club’s management, criticizing the lack of investment in the roster during the summer. At the same time, he said he expected more from the “upper echelons” of management, specifically naming technical director Jason Wilcox.
The player was summoned to a meeting on Thursday by the club’s management, attended by Wilcox and CEO Omar Beranda. Head coach Michael Carrick was also present at the meeting.
The decision was to fine him but not to suspend him, so he is expected to play in Sunday’s away match against Leeds.
