Adriano Jagusic’s outstanding performance in Croatia’s U-21 match against Hungary in the Euro 2027 qualifiers has made headlines across Europe.
The young Panathinaikos player was outstanding and delivered one of the most “complete” performances of his career, scoring a hat trick and having a massive impact on the game for Ivica Olić’s team.
His agent, Matej Škegro, spoke to the Serbian publication “Sportske novosti” about this particular performance and, by extension, Jagiušič’s current form.
In detail:
He began by saying, “Panathinaikos invested a large sum in Adriano. Seven months ago, when they signed him, they valued him highly and paid more than other clubs, something both the player and I respect. This season, he has played in eight of the club’s 13 matches, and his performance with the U-21 team shows how much he has progressed in Greece. The entire Croatian league is valued at 200 million euros, while Panathinaikos alone is worth nearly 150 million.
He’s competing against players worth 18 million euros, and it’s not realistic for him to play in every game in what is essentially his first season. For now, it’s realistic to expect him to have played in eight of the 13 games. The plan is for him to play about 2,000 minutes this year and more than 3,000 next season. He trains exceptionally well, has performed very well whenever he’s played, and will certainly earn more and more playing time.”
On how Panathinaikos is handling the offers coming in for Jagiusic: “The Croatian media is creating unnecessary panic. It’s not that he didn’t play in any of the 13 games—he was left out of only five. I personally conveyed several official offers to the club, but they didn’t even want to hear about a sale or loan. Panathinaikos has invested a lot of money in him, is giving him significantly more playing time than last season, and I believe things will get even better.”
