Manchester United reported losses for the seventh consecutive fiscal year, with its total losses since 2019 now reaching 444 million pounds. For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026, net losses totaled 43 million pounds, up from 33 million the previous year. Contributing factors to the expenses included, among others, the severance payment to Ruben Amorim following his dismissal and increased financing costs.

At the same time, the club’s revenue reached a historic high, totaling 677.6 million pounds, an increase of 1.7%. Meanwhile, wage costs fell by 3.6% to 301 million pounds, as part of the cost-cutting policy implemented by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s management. However, net financial expenses more than tripled, reaching 69.2 million pounds, while net debt rose from 471.9 million to 577.6 million pounds.

Manchester United’s decision to sell small pieces of the old turf from “Old Trafford.” After replacing the playing surface for the first time in 14 years, the club is offering 7×7-centimeter pieces of turf for 125 pounds, in an effort to create yet another source of revenue.

United’s management estimates that the financial picture will improve next season, thanks to the team’s return to the Champions League and new sponsorship deals. Revenue of between 740 and 760 million pounds is projected for the 2026–27 fiscal year, while plans are moving forward for a new 100,000-seat stadium, a project estimated to cost over 2 billion pounds.
