Manchester United avoided defeat at "Craven Cottage," but not another loss of points in the Premier League. The “Red Devils” drew 1-1 with Fulham and, after the first five matchdays, have accumulated just five points.
This performance matches United’s worst start after five games in a Premier League season. According to Opta, the only other time they had just five points at this stage of the season was in 2014–15, with this season’s start underscoring the team’s struggles.
Against Fulham, the first half ended scoreless, despite United’s dominance in possession and more shots on goal. The home team took the lead in the 63rd minute when Lisandro Martínez accidentally sent the ball into his own net, making it 1-0.
United increased the pressure as the match drew to a close and managed to salvage a point in the 89th minute. Patrick Dorgu set up Matheus Cunha, who shot from the edge of the box; the ball struck a defender and found its way into Leno’s net for the final 1-1 score.
