Enzo Maresca did not give a clear answer as to whether he would rest Erling Haaland for tomorrow’s Champions League match between Manchester City and AEK (10:00 p.m.). The Norwegian forward experienced some minor discomfort after the match against Ipswich, and there are plans to sit him out to prevent further strain.
“He might be available. We’ll see. We have a training session afterward, and we have some doubts following Saturday’s match. He was feeling better yesterday; we’ll see how he is today,” the Italian coach emphasized. “Replacing Erling is always difficult. We have a few different options; we’ll see tomorrow. It depends on our game plan—he might even be available tomorrow. So we’ll see. Foden could also play there, but for now, our first choice at ‘9’ is Erling,” he added.
“More or less, all the players are fine; the only one who’ll be out for about 8 weeks is Semenio. We were worried it might be a more serious injury, but after yesterday’s MRI, we feel better. It’s not that serious. The most important thing is for him to recover. We’ll have him back in December. It’s never good for us to lose a player, so we’ll try to find solutions. We’ll see,” he added.
