New developments in the Monaco case, with Ronaldinho making a strong comeback to the forefront and becoming a key figure in the plan that could keep the club in professional basketball.
Jamal Masburn, who had taken on the task of leading the effort to acquire the Monegasque team, backed out at the last minute, as he was unable to secure the necessary financial guarantees. To move forward with his own plan, he would have had to demonstrate the availability of 10 million euros in capital.

Following this development, Monaco’s management brought back to the table the proposal presented the previous week, with Ronaldinho at its center. The Brazilian soccer legend is aligned with the Andorran investment fund Clayton Sport, which is now being touted as one of the key options for the team’s rescue.
The plan was developed by Romain Goiran and Benjamin Erisoglu, with the involvement of people from Ronaldinho’s inner circle. In fact, the prospective investors are reportedly ready to take over Monaco even if the team is relegated to a lower division.
Financially, the plan calls for a particularly significant commitment. Reports indicate a payment of approximately 2.5 million euros to the EuroLeague, a bank guarantee of 5 million euros, as well as an annual investment of approximately 10 million euros over a three- to five-year period.
Meanwhile, the Monaco side has asked the CNOSF (French National Olympic and Sports Committee) to postpone the crucial hearing until August 25, in order to allow sufficient time to submit and present the new plan.
The case remains ongoing, but following Masburn’s withdrawal, Ronaldinho and the fund backing him have once again taken on a pivotal role in the effort to secure Monaco’s future.
