Christoforos Matthaiou, the press officer for the “Blues,” spoke about the latest news from Paphos in comments he made to SuperSport 104. He discussed the team’s goals for the resumption of play, the current competitive landscape, and whether the roster will be strengthened during the winter transfer window.
In detail: “Every international break is valuable, not just for Paphos but for all teams. For us, I hope it will have a positive effect. We need to come back stronger. The team needs to be ready next month because there are high expectations.”

On players returning from injury: “When the league resumes, we hope everyone will be healthy, except for those dealing with long-term injuries. They need to be ready to go, and we’ll all tackle this demanding period together. As for Koreia, it’s nothing serious—he just needs some rest and will return after the break. Sema was called up to his national team, Sweden. They count on him and appreciate him, and we’re happy to have yet another international player.”
On this year’s roster: “Mr. Haris was right when he said we wouldn’t make any further signings, and we didn’t. The team has room for reinforcements, and we’ll see about that in January.”
On the team’s goals: “Everyone is working with the Anorthosis match in mind. The match against Atalanta is definitely the biggest draw, and preparations are ongoing. All the airfare packages have been announced. Interest seems high, and we’ll have a good turnout. We’ve secured 5% of the stadium’s capacity. We’ll be able to get about 1,000 tickets. It’s a small stadium for a team of this size. They’re expecting it to sell out with us. Atalanta has almost always had a strong team in recent years, but this year they don’t seem to be in such good form.”
