Christoforos Matthaiou, the team’s press officer, made important statements regarding all matters concerning Paphos on “SPOR FM 95.0.”

His remarks about Derrick Lukassen—who has not yet responded to the Limassol club—stood out. He spoke about yesterday’s friendly match, the injuries to Gorter and Kyriakides, and the new signings. Finally, he addressed whether there would be any additional signings

Key points

On yesterday’s friendly: “These friendlies, especially the early ones, don’t really give you a chance to draw conclusions. They’re more about the coach and the players getting into a rhythm.”

On Gorter and Kyriakidis: “Gorter was feeling some discomfort, and to avoid taking any risks, we left him out—especially after Kyriakidis’s injury—but Petros did very well. Kyriakidis’s injury is muscular and will keep him out for 2–3 months. We may also need to bring in a new goalkeeper, since Kyriakidis’s injury has affected our plans.”

On whether there will be another signing: “We have one spot left on the foreign player roster, which will be for the center back position. We haven’t received a response from Lukasen yet; we’re waiting, but now that the competitive season has ended—including for Ghana—we’ll see how the Lukasen situation unfolds.”

On Anderson and Poulou: “Anderson has gradually picked up the pace; I’ll remind you that he underwent surgery after the cup final. We’ve made efforts regarding Pululu, but it’s a difficult situation; right now we have three forwards on the roster: Anderson, Lele, and Basuamina. The new signings are showing a lot of promise. They’re two players who joined the team with strong résumés; Biel even scored in the friendly; it seems we made good choices. It’s still early—I’ll say it again—but so far they’re proving to be good additions.”
