The Argentine Football Association announced its intention to file an appeal and take the case all the way to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following the imposition of sanctions for the incidents that followed the World Cup final against Spain,
Leandro Paredes, a key figure in the brawl, was suspended for ten matches and fined 77,000 euros, Nahuel Molina received a seven-game suspension and the same fine, while Thiago Almada and Roberto ??Ayala (Lionel Scaloni’s assistant coach) were each suspended for one match and fined 25,000 euros.
The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has been ordered to pay 265,000 euros for various violations, including “inappropriate collective behavior, discriminatory or racist incidents, and disturbances of public order,” according to FIFA.
The AFA has stated its intention to file appeals with the FIFA Appeals Committee, with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as a last resort.
Furthermore, FIFA has already accepted Argentina’s request to serve its sanctions during upcoming “Category A friendly matches and/or official matches.”
