The postponement of AEK’s match against Atromitos—which was scheduled to take place between the games against Shakhtar and Manchester City—is now considered final.
AEK confirmed its intention not to return to Greece after the match against the Ukrainians at Stamford Bridge (Wednesday, Oct. 14) and to remain in England until their next Champions League match against the “Citizens” (Tuesday, Oct. 20).
This means he’ll exercise the much-talked-about “joker right” for the league match against Peristeri (which was scheduled for Saturday, October 17, and will most likely be rescheduled for Wednesday, December 16).
With this decision, AEK will avoid back-to-back trips and the physical strain between the two difficult Champions League matches, while it has already set the groundwork for the team’s stay in England and the facilities where training sessions will take place.
