Our national team faced host Italy in the 5th–8th place match and suffered a 20–37 loss, in a match where the difference in skill was evident in both halves (8–17, 12–20).
Despite the result, our national team players had the opportunity to gain valuable experience by participating in a high-level tournament. Cyprus will conclude its run in the tournament on Monday, facing Kosovo in the 7th-8th place game.
The match was attended by the Secretary General of the Cyprus Olympic Committee and Treasurer of the European Handball Federation (EHF), Mr. Giotis Ioannidis, accompanied by the President of the Cyprus Handball Federation, Mr. Konstantinos Filaretou, as well as the Head and Assistant Head of the Delegation to Taranto, Mr. Andreas Theofylaktou and Mr. George Panagidis.
Mr. Ioannidis congratulated the coaching staff and the handball players for their efforts and the respectable performances they have delivered in the matches, while also congratulating the President and the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Handball Federation for the work they are doing.
