Developments in Villeurbanne are coming thick and fast. The French team sent shockwaves through Europe after confirming that Tony Parker will be the team’s new head coach, and shortly thereafter, the four-time NBA champion with the San Antonio Spurs announced in an interview with a French media outlet the signing of five top-tier players.
Specifically, he mentioned that Sylvain Francisco, Nick Wyler-Babb, Harmony Brooks, Daniel Theis, and Both Gach would be moving to Lyon, ready to bolster the team with their talent.
Here’s what he said in detail:
“I wanted a pillar of the team, and Francisco was at the top of my list. He truly has that French DNA. It’s incredible that we managed to convince him. Thais is a major signing for us. He brings a wealth of experience, and that changes everything in the locker room. With Brooks, we’ve signed one of the best guards in the EuroLeague. We’ve also finalized agreements with Nick Weiler-Babb and Both Gach.”
It’s worth noting that the team’s new signings from Lyon all come from the EuroLeague, with the exception of Gach —last year’s EuroCup MVP with Bourg— and are poised to help Villeurbanne take center stage on the European basketball scene.
