Mexico confirmed that it is one of the most impressive teams in this year’s World Cup, defeating Ecuador 2-0 at the “Azteca” and emphatically securing their spot in the tournament’s Round of 16.
In doing so, Javier Aguirre’s team remained undefeated and went 4-0 in the tournament, sending a clear message that it has all the ingredients for a strong run in the tournament.
The duo of Julián Quiñones and Raúl Jiménez once again made the difference on offense, confidently leading their team, which impresses with its intensity, speed, and aggressiveness. At the same time, Mexico continues to capitalize on home-field advantage, a factor that makes them even more dangerous as the tournament progresses.
Now, “El Tri” will face the winner of the England-Democratic Republic of the Congo match in the Round of 16, once again at the “Azteca.” It’s worth noting that AEK’s Orbelin Pineda came on as a substitute in the 80th minute and came very close to scoring in the 90’+2′.
