The process of selling Oso from Sevilla to Olympiacos is picking up speed, according to ABC.
“Talks between Sevilla and Vangelis Marinakis, owner of Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest, have intensified regarding the transfer of the fullback,” the report states, while the Andalusian club has already found a replacement for the left-back position in Julio Díaz of Atlético Madrid.
“Activity surrounding Oso has intensified in recent hours, with Vangelis Marinakis, owner of Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest, raising his offer. Given this situation—which both sides are optimistic can be resolved soon—Sevilla has made a move for Atlético Madrid’s left back, Julio Díaz,” the report states.
“After an initial offer of six million euros, which Sevilla rejected as insufficient, Marinakis returned with a new, higher offer that is now closer to Sevilla’s demands, although negotiations are still ongoing and certain details remain to be finalized. The player, who traveled to Krakow with the team, is waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement, though he would give the green light for the transfer. Sevilla attempted to renew Oso’s contract during the first few months of the year, but there were significant differences between the two sides. Furthermore, the fullback’s improved form, which culminated in an outstanding end to the season, increased his market value and led to the suspension of renewal talks, pending developments this summer. With only one year remaining on his contract, Sevilla was expecting a sale, though always for a fee close to the club’s valuation, which is neither the €20 million release clause nor the €6 million initially offered by Marinakis,” the Spanish media add.
The 23-year-old Spaniard first came up through the youth academies of Málaga and then Sevilla. In 2023, he joined the first team, and last season he made 24 appearances, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists in the Spanish league and Cup.
