Vincenzo Montella is now officially no longer the head coach of the Turkish national team!
On Friday afternoon (October 9), the country’s soccer federation announced its “parting of ways” with the 52-year-old Italian coach, with the two sides going their separate ways after five years together.

Montella… paid the price for the team’s very poor performances in recent Nations League matches, with Turkey suffering four losses in as many games, with a goal differential of 2-11.
Specifically, they lost twice to Italy (3-1 away, 1-4 at home), once to Belgium (3-0 away), and once to France (1-0 away).
However, according to reports in the country, the TFF’s decision was largely influenced by the team’s performance in the recent World Cup, with Turkey suffering a shocking elimination in the group stage of the World Cup in North America.
