The Monaco case is taking a new turn, as the club now awaits the decisive ruling from the CNOSF (French National Olympic and Sports Committee) on whether the club will ultimately compete in the top division of the French league during the 2026–27 season.
The proceedings before the CNOSF concern the Monegasques’ attempt to secure a reconsideration of their case following the decision to exclude them from the French league.
Although the ruling was expected on Thursday (August 27), no announcement was made, and the decision is now expected on Friday morning (August 28). According to French media reports, the delay is linked to new and particularly significant information that has been added to Monaco’s case file.
Specifically, a major European company is reported to have taken control of the team and committed to allocating 10 million euros exclusively for the 2026–27 season. In fact, a significant portion of the amount is said to have already been deposited into the club’s bank account on Thursday afternoon.
What Does the CNOSF
Process Mean? Monaco appealed to the CNOSF, that is, the French National Olympic and Sports Committee, following the decision by the French Basketball Federation not to allow the club to participate in the professional league for the upcoming season.
In this case, the CNOSF acts as an intermediary to facilitate a compromise. It reviews Monaco’s arguments and updated financial data and issues an advisory opinion to the French federation. In other words, it does not decide on its own that Monaco will return to the league. Its opinion may pave the way for the French Basketball Federation to reconsider the case.
