FIFA decided years ago that the 2026 World Cup would be held in the Americas, knowing that the distances are long and there would be a lot of travel. This applies both within the U.S. and in Canada and Mexico, which are the co-hosting countries.
Nevertheless, the world federation’s calculations have proven to be less than optimal, as we see significant differences in the number of kilometers and the number of trips from team to team.
The team that has traveled the most kilometers so far in the World Cup is England, with more than 17,000.
Morocco comes in second with over 13 kilometers, while Spain rounds out the top three with 12 kilometers but also the most trips so far. Specifically, the “Furia Roja” has made 19 trips, which puts even more strain on the team.
As for the team that has traveled the fewest kilometers—and is therefore, in theory, more rested than its competitors? France. Because it has traveled a total of just 3,000 kilometers so far.
