The French club, which is at the beginning of a new and ambitious plan that has been put into action and aims to have the team play a leading role in European basketball in the coming years, has announced that Tony Parker is taking over as head coach!
The 44-year-old legend of French basketball and the San Antonio Spurs is opening a new chapter in his illustrious career in the world of basketball, making a dynamic entry into the coaching arena!
After twelve years at the helm of ASVEL as president, Tony Parker is taking on yet another challenging responsibility, as he is called upon to lead the team to success from the sidelines.
“I feel immense pride in taking on this responsibility within this legendary club. Returning to the field, the adrenaline of the games, and guiding a team in its development are challenges that deeply motivate me. My passion for the game remains undiminished, and together with my entire staff, we will work tirelessly to instill a winning culture so that we can build an ambitious future.
This is the beginning of a new chapter, the first step in a large-scale development project we aim to build. This new momentum must be firmly established so that we can proudly represent Villeurbanne, the city of Lyon, and French basketball,” he said in his first remarks as head coach.
