New reports are coming out of Argentina regarding Olympiacos’ interest in Orlando Hill.
According to journalist Hermann García Groba, the “Red-and-Whites” have submitted an offer to acquire 100% of the Paraguayan goalkeeper’s rights.
San Lorenzo, however, is demanding the full amount of the buyout clause, which stands at $7 million net. The Argentine club owns only 50% of the 26-year-old goalkeeper’s financial rights and is therefore seeking a deal that will net it that specific amount.
The new report comes one day after news that Olympiacos’ initial offer was rejected. In Argentina, it is believed that the Piraeus club will persist in its pursuit of Hill, who stood out for Paraguay at the World Cup and played a decisive role in their penalty shootout victory over Germany.
Hill, who is under contract with San Lorenzo through December 2027, has made 22 appearances this season and kept 12 clean sheets across all competitions. A few years ago, when he wasn’t yet earning a decent living from soccer, he was forced to sell some of his personal memorabilia from Uruguay’s run in the 2019 U-20 World Cup, in order to cover the expenses for his son, who was born prematurely.
It should be noted that Olympiacos will be on the lookout for a starting goalkeeper in the event of Konstantinos Tzolakis’s sale, with the name of the team’s former Portuguese goalkeeper, José Sá, being considered.
