Special meeting and decisions from Nea Salamina!
The Famagusta team has lodged a complaint against the referee and VAR regarding the match against Apollon and is appealing to the relevant European and international bodies regarding the controversial incidents that have occurred so far in the league.
In addition, an open meeting with the public will be organized to discuss the situation, provide updates, and exchange views.
The announcement: “The Board of Directors of NEA SALAMINA AMMOCHOSTOS, at its emergency meeting held this evening, reviewed the refereeing of our team and the inconsistencies it has observed in the application of the rules and in decisions made to our detriment, and decided on the following actions:
1. To file a formal complaint against the referee and the VAR official of the match against Apollon with the relevant authorities.
2. To compile and document all the disputed incidents from the first six matchdays of the league and to file an appeal with the relevant European and international bodies. The relevant dossier will document the refereeing decisions which, in our Club’s view, have led to the distortion of results, as well as instances of inconsistent judgment of similar plays to the detriment of our team. We believe that the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) is unable to effectively address this issue and ensure the consistent and equitable application of the regulations.
3. The organization of an extraordinary open meeting of the supporters of NEA SALAMINA, with the aim of providing information, discuss, and exchange views regarding the refereeing treatment of our team. The date, time, and location of the gathering will be announced in a subsequent notice.
NEA SALAMINA demands equal treatment, respect, and uniform criteria in the application of regulations for all teams. The Board of Directors will take the necessary institutional actions to defend the interests and dignity of NEA SALAMINA AMMOCHOSTOS. We call on our supporters to stand by the team so that, together, united, and with determination, we can protect our Club.”
