Zlatko Dalić called it a “shameful decision” after Croatia was eliminated by Portugal in the World Cup Round of 32 (2-1). The Croatian coach believes the goal was wrongly disallowed for offside in the final moments of extra time, a goal that would have tied the score at 2-2 for his team.
“I can’t believe what I just saw; the ball clearly went off Veiga’s head—it’s a disgrace. We knew what could happen after the Portugal-Colombia match, but this is truly outrageous,” Dalic emphasized.
“I’m sorry about the loss; in the second half we were the better team, we had plenty of chances, we played well, and in the end we conceded a goal like that. There are a lot of emotions; I have no complaints about the players—we fought hard, but unfortunately, we didn’t make it. We had plenty of chances to secure the win. Congratulations to Portugal; it’s tough for us—maybe we didn’t deserve this, but we were the better team in the second half,” he added.
As for what the future holds for Zston on the bench? “I have no comment; we’ll discuss all that later.”
