A convincing 3-1 friendly win for Olympiacos, with Zota Silva as the star of the show!
The “Red-and-Whites” put on a strong performance and defeated Fortuna Sittard 3-1, a team that has been a regular in the Eredivisie in recent years, in their third friendly match played on Dutch soil!
A dream debut—albeit an unofficial one—for Zota Silva, who introduced himself to us with an impressive performance and a hat trick! He opened the scoring in the 20th minute and made it 2-0 in the 24th with a beautiful goal, and two minutes after the Dutch pulled one back to make it 2-1, he coolly converted a penalty earned by Martins to seal the final score at 3-1!
There were concerns for Sipioni, who left the game with a shoulder injury in the 31st minute; young Filis made a positive impression, Koutsidis put in a solid performance, and André Luís was very active!
The next friendly for the Piraeus team is in less than 24 hours (Saturday, July 18, 4:30 p.m.) against Ajax, behind closed doors at the Dutch team’s training center, followed by matches against Antwerp and Alkmaar on July 24–25.
As a reminder, Olympiacos will begin its official competitive schedule by participating in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, where it will face one of the following teams: Saint-Gilloise, Sparta Prague, Nijmegen, or Sturm Graz/Harts. The draw will take place next Monday (July 20), and the matches will be played on August 4–5 and August 11.
