Kylian Mbappé is among the leading contenders for this year’s Ballon d’Or, with the French superstar posting on social media to announce that he had received the Golden Boot for this year’s World Cup.
The captain of the French national team scored 10 goals in eight games, with Les Bleus finishing in fourth place in the tournament. In fact, in comments he made, his Real Madrid teammate Thibaut Courtois expressed the view that Mbappé should win the Golden Ball.
“In my opinion, the Ballon d’Or should go to Mbappé. The winner of the award should be the player who was the best in the world this year, not necessarily the one who won the most trophies,” the Belgian goalkeeper said.
